White sample
Choose a sample for the decision it needs to support. A structural sample can check assembly and fit without showing final colour or finishing. A printed proof can show artwork while using a different material or production method from the final order.
Printed sample
Before approving a printed sample, record which artwork, colours and finishes it demonstrates and how it differs from bulk production. For a multi-part pack, include the insert, wrapping, closure and actual product where possible. Approving an empty outer box leaves important questions about support and removal unresolved.
Production reference
Keep the approved sample identifier with the artwork and order specification. Confirm fees, shipping, timing and any production-order credit in the quotation. Request another review when the product, board, dimensions or finishing changes rather than treating an earlier approval as universal.

Choose the evidence needed for approval
If the only open question is whether a bottle fits, a structural sample may answer it. If the question is foil alignment on textured paper, an unprinted white sample cannot resolve it. State the decision before commissioning the sample.
