Inside and outside printing

Availability depends on the material, structure and intended use.

  • Printed exterior: Decide which panels need graphics, handling marks or codes. Review the print process against coverage, liner and order quantity.
  • Printed interior: Specify the inside reveal independently of the shipping faces. Keep important content clear of folds and contact points.
  • Surface protection: Explain expected handling and exposure so a suitable surface treatment can be discussed. Coating choices must be checked against folding and any contact requirements.

Closure, inserts and shipping format

State the closure method, board construction, packed mass and stacking arrangement. Internal dividers and void fill should be included when setting dimensions.

Specify the top and base closing method, dividers and packing sequence around the shipping route and contents.

  • Working layout: Send a drawing, reference or actual product. Identify fixed requirements and options to compare.
  • Supply and assembly: State flat or erected supply, bundle quantities, assembly requirements and carton or pallet constraints at the packing site.
  • Component matching: For a multi-part pack, list component sizes, assembly order and which parts the quotation includes.

Packout and shipping planning

Sample checks: packed load, closure and stacking

Inspect the sealed, filled carton rather than an empty sample. Compare freight volume using the finished carton dimensions, including the actual packing arrangement.

Choose the right sample stage

  • Structural sample: Check dimensions, assembly, fit and opening or application with the actual contents where relevant.
  • Printed sample: Check print areas, colour and finish. Record any differences between the sample process and bulk production.
  • Production reference: Approve the sample and artwork version before production. Recheck affected parts after changes to dimensions, materials or functional components.

Sample fees, shipping and timing are quoted per project. A visual proof cannot replace physical checks.
