Custom Hinged Lid Boxes
The lid stays attached to the base when the box opens. The hinge and chosen closure should support the way the customer accesses the contents.
Standard MOQ: 500 pcs per style, size and artwork. Higher quantities may apply to special specifications. Sample timing and production timing are quoted for the project.

Core board, wrapping paper and lining
The quotation confirms the selected grade and compatible options.
| Material option | Specification and confirmation |
|---|---|
| Greyboard core | Choose the structural board around the box span, contents and opening design. Wall thickness and usable space need to be reviewed together. |
| Printed wrapping paper | Use the wrap for colour and graphics. Plan seams, turned edges and corner joins before laying out the artwork. |
| Specialty wrapping paper | Discuss texture and colour using a physical reference. Review compatibility with the selected foil, adhesive and other finishing. |
| Interior lining and insert | Specify the visible lining separately from the structural insert. Product contact, access and the required presentation guide the selection. |
Hinge clearance and product access
Cavity size, hinge clearance and the opening angle needed to reach the contents.
- Measurement reference: Give units and label product, internal or external dimensions. Include a drawing or reference sample if available.
- Multiple sizes: List quantities by size. A size change may require a revised structure, artwork or sample.
Graphics around the hinge
Position graphics across lid and base without relying on the hinge as a continuous print surface.
| Print preparation | Specification and confirmation |
|---|---|
| Print areas | Mark printed faces, unprinted areas, text and codes. The material and order requirements determine the printing method. |
| Colour reference | Provide CMYK artwork or a Pantone reference where available. Approve colour on the agreed material and sample; screen previews show layout. |
| Files and versions | Send PDF, AI or CDR artwork if available; JPG/PNG references and Excel specifications or data can support the brief. Files are reviewed before production. |
Wrap finishes and visible surfaces
Availability depends on the material, structure and intended use.
- Matte or gloss wrap: Select the surface appearance together with the wrapping paper. Review handling marks and corner appearance on a finished sample.
- Foil and relief detail: Position foil, embossing or debossing around the visible logo areas. Paper texture, fine detail and wrap seams affect the final result.
- Inside and outside colours: Choose whether the interior matches or contrasts with the exterior. Identify each printed or lined surface on the layout.
Inserts, opening details and assembly
Choose the hinge and closure separately. A hinged lid can use different closure arrangements and should not automatically be specified as magnetic.
Specify the lid closure and hinge arrangement, then review access with the actual product and insert.
- Working layout: Send a drawing, reference or actual product. Identify fixed requirements and options to compare.
- Supply and assembly: Confirm assembled or collapsible supply where the chosen structure allows it, protective separation between boxes and whether inserts arrive fitted.
- Component matching: For a multi-part pack, list component sizes, assembly order and which parts the quotation includes.
Sample checks: hinge and closure selection
Check opening clearance, lid alignment and access to the product. Inspect the hinge area after the opening sequence expected in the actual use.
- Structural sample: Check dimensions, assembly, fit and opening or application with the actual contents where relevant.
- Printed sample: Check print areas, colour and finish. Record any differences between the sample process and bulk production.
- Production reference: Approve the sample and artwork version before production. Recheck affected parts after changes to dimensions, materials or functional components.
Sample fees, shipping and timing are quoted per project. A visual proof cannot replace physical checks.
